Watch out Photobucket, MTV.com and YouTube’s TestTube site - the big gun, Adobe is coming!! Adobe, at the recent Photoshop World 2007 in Las Vegas has shown a sneak preview of Photoshop Express. According to Adobe keynote address by John Loiacono, Senior VP Creative Solutions Business Unit, this is not a Photoshop replacement, but rather a a new member of the Photoshop family that’s meant to make Adobe imaging technology immediately accessible to large numbers of people by way of a free, Flash-based online video editor for creating mash-ups and remixes.

Although this doesn’t have a direct relation to free photoshop downloads, I consider it one of the most important subject when it comes to the whole image processing concept.
And why is that, you ask? because the LAB color space is the only “device independent” color space in Photoshop, and when used correctly, it is the only one that will allow the user to have the best color match from capture to display to print.
Simply put - the LAB color space is the only one representing the way the human eye sees color. And that is the most important thing when it comes to ensuring color match throughout the process.

There are many free photoshop downloads of great scripts out there. Sripts are actually “Action on steroids”. Written in Java Script they can access the inner most details of Photoshop and thus are very powerful.

Adobe’s resident character-in-chief Russell Brown has unveiled a new revision to his popular set of free photoshop downloads - image-processing scripts for Photoshop. Downloadable from his site, these latest scripts buff up an already robust set of tools. These excellent workflow enhancing scripts provide numerous enhancements to the Image Processor that ships with CS3. The core functions run in both Photoshop and Photoshop Extended, while the stack- and time-based functions work only with Extended.
I have been using Dr. Brown’s script for a long time now and they are fantastic time savers, especially if you handle lots of images. Preparing a whole bunch of images without needing to be there allows me to take on more projects and have a photo shoot while my computer processes the previous batch (or sleep while it processes them overnight).

I mentioned in my opening statement that I will discuss both Free Photoshop Downloads and “not so free” ones.
What did I mean by that?
There are obviously the “real” free photoshop downloads, the ones you can download and use completely free of charge, and let me tell you - there are really great ones that will improve your performance and will save you lots of time and money (if you use it to make money).
Yet there are a lot of ones which I categorize as the “not so” free photoshop downloads. Those are the ones that will cost you some money to download. The question is: will this be a cost, or a good investment?
